IBJ Names O’Neal Among State’s Top Influential Leaders

Jul 20, 2023

Northeast Indiana Works President and CEO Edmond O’Neal has been named one of Indiana’s most influential business leaders by IBJ Media.

He was among 250 leaders chosen this year by IBJ Media, which includes Indianapolis Business Journal, Indiana Lawyer and Inside Indiana Business. A reception honoring the leaders was held July 20 in Indianapolis.

LBJ Media accepted nominations for inclusion in the list, researched executives and companies, and interviewed state, industry and community leaders about who should be included. In the end, LBJ Media said, selections were made entirely by LBJ Media editors and staff.

The chosen leaders have made significant contributions in their communities, across their regions, and to the state and nation. The goal of the initiative is to not only honor deserving leaders but to connect leaders throughout the state and help them work together to build a stronger Indiana.

At Northeast Indiana Works, O’Neal is responsible for assisting employers and educators in creating a quality workforce system, overseeing service delivery to local constituents through WorkOne Northeast, and supporting regional collaborative efforts related to economic and workforce development. Prior to his current role, O’Neal worked in varying capacities within the organization, at JobWorks Inc., at Texas Christian University, and at the University of North Texas.

He currently serves on the board of directors for STAR Financial, the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne, Erin’s House for Grieving Children, Vincent Village, Questa Foundation, NEI (formerly known as the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership) and Catie B Charities. He previously served on the Fort Wayne Mayoral Opportunity and Advisory Committee, the Vision 2030 Steering Committee of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Advisory Council on Agriculture, Small Business and Labor.

O’Neal holds a B.A. from Stanford University, an M.Ed from Texas Christian University and an MBA from Indiana University. He is a native of Flint, MI and lives in Fort Wayne, IN with his wife Alicia and son Preston.
